What are some of the resources in the CSACW?

Because the CSACW formally organized in January 2003 we are in the process of establishing our initial partnerships with private collectors. We already have a few private collections that have been identified and the primary resources will be made available on our web site soon. Here is what we expect to have access to in the very near future:

75th NYSV and the 14th NYSC - 25 Civil War Letters

25 letters to home, of Marcus Aurelins Wheeler during his service in the Civil War. Dates range from May 21, 1862 to November 14, 1864. He served with Company K, 75th New York State Volunteers and later with the Company L, 14th New York State Cavalry (during the War part of the 75th became the 14th Cavalry).

Hiram W. Bates, Co. C, 12th Regt Mass Vols. Inf, 5th Army Corps

44 letters to Hiram W. Bates, Co. C, 12th Regt Mass Vols. Inf, 5th Army Corps. They are written by an educated Soldier’s Wife, named Mamie, who understood the hardships of the war and was very interested in the politics and different campaigns taking place from 1883 through to 1865. Their home was in East Brighton Massachusetts.

Six letters of Sergeant James Shadle during his service in the Civil War and one letter he received from his father. Dates range from January 22, 1862 to April 18th, 1864. He served with Company G, 2nd Iowa Infantry. Owner also has 400+ letters, telegraphs, special orders, CDV's, etc., related to Corinth.
